North Korea fires short-range missiles
U.S. and S. Korea say drill is defensive, North asserts it is an assault-intent drill.

NEW YORK (AA) - North Korea fired three missiles, Saturday, the U.S. army said.
Three short-range ballistic missiles, all failed, were launched from Kangwon area, one of them just after firing and two of them exploded in the air, U.S: Pacific Command stated.
The missile tests happened during ongoing joint military drills between South Korea and the U.S. army.
While the U.S. and the South declare that the drill is defensive, the North asserts it is an assault-intent drill.
In the statement, it was stressed that the missiles did not have range capability to strike the United States.
Earlier this month, the United Nations Security Council placed sanctions against Pyongyang as a consequence of its nuclear operations.
