OECD annual inflation marginally down to 5.7% in April

Energy prices accelerated for 2nd month in row year-on-year in April, while food inflation slightly eases to 4.8%

Annual consumer inflation in the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) area marginally decreased to 5.7% in April, according to data released on Wednesday.

The figure eased from 5.8% in March, the Paris-based organization said in a statement.

Headline inflation slowed in 24 OECD countries, with the largest monthly decline of 0.5 percentage point or more posted by Estonia, the UK, Iceland, Luxembourg, Austria, and Slovenia.

Energy prices accelerated for the second month in a row, reaching 1.2% in April, after 0.6% in the prior month.

Food inflation in the OECD went slightly down to 4.8%, from 4.9% the previous month.

Core inflation, excluding food and energy, fell to 6.2% in April, following March's 6.4%.

In the G20, annual inflation was constant at 6.9%, its highest level since March 2023.
