Over 15 civilians killed, several injured in Israeli-US attack on western Iran

ISTANBUL (AA) - More than 15 civilians were killed and several others injured in a joint Israeli-US attack on the city of Lamerd in western Iran, according to the semi-official Mehr News Agency.

The governor of Lamerd said Saturday afternoon that four residential neighborhoods in the city, located in Fars province, were targeted in the attack.

“Unfortunately, 15 citizens have been martyred so far. The number of martyrs will certainly exceed 15, and the number of injured is very high,” the governor said, according to the report.

On Saturday morning, the US and Israel launched a joint attack on Iran, claiming it was meant to remove “threats” posed by the Iranian “regime.” In response, Iran targeted Israel and the US bases in the region with missiles and drones.
