Over 500 arrested in Australia on charges of domestic, family violence
About 226 of those arrested were wanted for alleged serious domestic violence offenses

ANKARA (AA) - Police have arrested over 500 alleged "most dangerous" domestic and family violence offenses in Australia's New South Wales state, local media reported on Monday.
Some 554 alleged offenders were arrested and charged with a total of 1,070 charges during a four-day NSW Police-run Operation "Amarok VI", according to the daily Herald Sun.
The operation ran from Wednesday to Saturday.
About 226 of those arrested were wanted by police for alleged serious domestic violence offenses, an NSW Police spokesman said.
The arrested included a man, 55, who has been charged with the alleged assault of a 62-year-old woman in Port Macquarie on April 24.
Another 53-year-old man from West Kempsey was charged for allegedly brandishing an imitation firearm to threaten a woman during an argument on May 15.
