Palestinian ambassador to Belgium presents credentials to king, for first time

A Palestinian ambassador to Belgium on Tuesday presented for the first time her credentials to the king to officially assume her role, according to the Belgian monarchy.

King Philippe received Amal Jadou Shakaa who presented him her letter of credence, the statement read.

“This presentation marks the official start of her role in our country,” it added.

Amal Jadou Shakaa, for her part, wrote on X: “Today, I presented my credentials to the King of the Belgians as Ambassador of Palestine becoming the first Palestinian ambassador to do so. I conveyed President Abbas' gratitude for Belgium's unwavering support for Palestine.”

The Belgian government has openly voiced support for Gaza and Palestine amid Israeli attacks on civilians for over a year.
