ISTANBUL (AA) - Zekeriya es-Sersek, 12, residing in the besieged Gaza Strip amid Israel's relentless bombardment, selflessly helps hospital staff.
As Israel's intensive attacks have persisted in Gaza since Oct. 7, casualties continue to rise.
Despite hospitals being bombed and facing shortages of medical supplies, health care teams strive to treat the wounded.
Sersek, displaced with his family to Deir al-Balah in central Gaza due to the attacks, volunteers at the Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital.
Wearing a blue smock, he dashes through the corridors, helping patients and nurses by transporting medical supplies and meeting patients' needs, undeterred by his age.
Israel has waged a deadly military offensive on Gaza since an Oct. 7 cross-border attack led by Hamas in which 1,139 Israelis were killed.
More than 32,600 Palestinians, mostly women and children, have since been killed in Gaza, in addition to causing mass destruction, displacement and famine conditions.
Israel is accused of genocide at the International Court of Justice (ICJ). An interim ruling in January ordered Tel Aviv to stop genocidal acts and take measures to guarantee that humanitarian assistance is provided to civilians in Gaza.
