ANKARA (AA) - Palestinian cancer patients who are being treated at the Turkish-Palestinian Friendship Hospital, asked Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Tuesday to exert efforts to stop the Israeli bombing of the hospital.
The hospital, located in southern Gaza City, is the only one to treat cancer patients in the Gaza Strip.
"The medical staff and patients in the Turkish-Palestinian Friendship Hospital ... urge Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan to stop the Israeli occupation continued targeting of the hospital," Subhi Skaik, the hospital's director said in a statement.
Israeli warplanes hit the Turkish-Palestinian Friendship Hospital on Monday, inflicting severe damage to the third floor and electrical medical devices.
Israeli airstrikes on Gaza since Oct. 7 have repeatedly targeted hospitals, residences and houses of worship such as mosques and churches.
Attacks on hospitals are strictly prohibited under the Geneva Convention.
