RAMALLAH, Palestine (AA) – A Palestinian was shot dead by Israeli forces in an alleged car-ramming attack in the occupied West Bank on Wednesday, the Palestinian Health Ministry said.
An Israeli military statement said a Palestinian driver attempted to run over Israeli soldiers at the Beit Aoun junction near Hebron city in the southern West Bank.
No injuries were reported among Israeli soldiers.
The Palestinian Health Ministry identified the driver as Basel al-Muhtasib, 28. He was killed by Israeli forces near the town of Sa’ir north of Hebron, a ministry statement said.
Tensions have been growing across the occupied West Bank amid almost daily Israeli military raids into Palestinian towns.
At least 302 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli army fire since the start of the Israeli war on the Gaza Strip on Oct. 7 following a cross-border attack by the Palestinian group Hamas, according to the Health Ministry.
