ANKARA (AA) — Demonstrators in the Parisian suburb of Nanterre protested Israel's ongoing attacks on the Gaza Strip, decorating a narrowboat with Palestinian flags on the River Seine.
Protesters with the Gaza Faces campaign gathered on the bank of the river on Sunday, singing pro-Palestinian chants, but were not allowed to board the vessel, the group said on X.
Calling for a cease-fire in Gaza, they paid tribute to the children killed in the enclave by Israeli forces since Oct. 7 last year, when Tel Aviv began its ongoing deadly offensive.
More than 36,400 Palestinians have since been killed in Gaza, mostly women and children, and over 82,600 others injured, according to local health authorities.
Nearly eight months into the Israeli war, vast swathes of Gaza lay in ruins amid a crippling blockade of food, clean water, and medicine.
Israel stands accused of genocide at the International Court of Justice (ICJ), which in its latest ruling has ordered Tel Aviv to immediately halt its operation in Rafah, where over a million Palestinians had sought refuge from the war before it was invaded on May 6.
