Physician says Trump MRI focused on cardiovascular, abdominal health

WASHINGTON (AA) - An October Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) exam focused on US President Donald Trump's cardiovascular and abdominal health, his personal physician said on Monday.

"The purpose of this imaging is preventive: to identify issues early, confirm overall health, and ensure he maintains long-term vitality and function," Dr. Sean Barbabella said in a memo released by the White House.

Barbabella described the results of Trump's cardiovascular and abdominal imaging as "perfectly normal," adding: "All major organs appear very healthy and well- perfused. Everything evaluated is functioning within normal limits with no acute or chronic concerns."

"This level of detailed assessment is standard for an executive physical at President Trump's age and confirms that he remains in excellent overall health," he added.

While the MRI's existence has been known since October, the White House and the president had repeatedly declined to specify what part of the body if had focused on or why it was ordered.

Trump, who at 79 is one of the oldest presidents to hold office, told reporters on Sunday that he would authorize the release of the results after over a month of speculation.
