ATHENS (AA) – Nearly three years into the Russia-Ukraine war, Poland and Spain on Wednesday reiterated their commitment to supporting Ukraine, Polish media reported.
Speaking at a joint news conference in Warsaw alongside Spanish Foreign Minister Jose Manuel Albares, his Polish counterpart Radoslaw Sikorski said both countries reaffirmed their continued support for Ukraine within the frameworks of the EU and NATO, according to the state-run PAP news agency.
"Both Poland and Spain share a common assessment of the situation concerning key international policies and security matters, as well as significant potential for enhancing bilateral cooperation,” he added.
Albares emphasized that the issue of peace in Ukraine cannot be addressed without European involvement and must be linked to security guarantees for Ukraine and its neighbors.
With new US President Donald Trump widely expected to cut back or eliminate aid to Ukraine, European support for Kyiv has taken on added importance.
Saying the situation in the Middle East and EU-US relations under Trump were also discussed, he said transatlantic ties are mutually beneficial for both sides.
