WARSAW (AA) – Polish President Andrzej Duda urged the UN on Tuesday to support the creation of a special tribunal to investigate Russian war crimes in Ukraine.
“The perpetrators must be punished,” said Duda, speaking at the 78th session of the UN General Assembly in New York City, adding "evil should be called evil.”
“We in Poland know that freedom is not given once and forever. That is why we perfectly understand the tragedy of the Ukrainian nation,” he said.
Russian President “Vladimir Putin wanted to subjugate Ukraine, but he failed. I believe he will not succeed.”
Duda noted that today there is an attack on Ukraine, but another country could also take its place.
Duda was scheduled to meet with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on Tuesday.
Earlier, the Polish president met with his Turkish counterpart Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
"The leaders discussed the security situation in Central and Eastern Europe and the Black Sea," said the Chancellery of the President of the Republic of Poland.
