WARSAW (AA) - Poland’s ruling party, Law and Justice (PiS) has increased its lead over the opposition Civic Coalition (KO) in an opinion poll published on Monday.

A poll by the Pollster Research Institute commissioned by the daily newspaper "Super Express" shows that PiS has a 6-percentage point lead over KO.

The elections would be won by the United Right (PiS, Sovereign Poland, Republican Party) with a result of 36.76%, an increase of 1.17 percentage points. Second place was taken by the Civic Coalition (PO [Civic Platform], Nowoczesna [Modern], Zieloni [Greens]), which can count on 30.44%, an increase of 0.09 percentage points.

Trzecia Droga (Third Way) could count on 9.81%, up 0.9%, while the Left (an alliance of SLD, Wiosna [Spring] and Razem [Together]) was up 0.83 percentage points 9.72%. Far-right Confederation’s support was down 1.73 percentage points to 8.67%.

"PiS's election tactics have turned out to be effective. And surprisingly, support for PiS is growing despite the visa scandal, which means that the party's electorate is immune to issues related to migrants,” political scientist, Kazimierz Kik, said in an interview with the newspaper.

President Andrzej Duda decided that parliamentary elections will be held on Oct. 15, 2023. Poles will elect 460 MPs and 100 senators for a four-year term.
