Political leaders in Bosnia and Herzegovina want to strengthen ties with Türkiye

Senior Turkish, Bosnian politicians vow to strengthen corporations in every field

By Talha Ozturk

BELGRADE, Serbia (AA) - Senior politicians in Bosnia and Herzegovina expressed their desire on Friday to enhance cooperation with Türkiye.

"There is potential for further strengthening of relations in many areas. Our political and economic relations are also on the rise," said Kemal Ademovic, Vice-Chairman of the House of Peoples of Bosnia.

Ademovic recalled that Türkiye and Bosnia and Herzegovina have "the most signed and initialed agreements" when compared to other countries.

Ademovic's comments came after a meeting with Türkiye's parliament speaker, Numan Kurtulmus, in the capital Sarajevo, along with Marinko Cavara, the president of the House of Representatives.

He added that Bosnia and Türkiye have recently signed a series of agreements to implement crucial projects in the field of infrastructure.

Stating that Türkiye "has important investments in Bosnia and Herzegovina," Ademovic said: "We hope that these will increase further".

Cavara, on her part, said that Türkiye is a true friend of Bosnia.

"We agreed to continue parliamentary cooperation. I believe that we can strengthen our relations and cooperation in these moments when we experience a crisis in world relations and peacekeeping," said Cavara.

Kurtulmus said that Bosnia Herzegovina and Türkiye have deep cultural ties, and they agree on maintaining the relations that have increased in every field.

He emphasized Türkiye's support for the determination of the current government of Bosnia to ensure and establish security and stability.

"There are so many problems, so many conflicts, so many tensions, especially in Türkiye's region, the Balkans, the Black Sea, the Caucasus, the Middle East, and the geography extending to the south of Africa," said Kurtulmus.

"We would like to confirm that we do not want new tensions in the Balkans. A new conflict would not contribute to the people of the region or the world system," he said.

Kurtulmus added that Türkiye wants to make the best use of the opportunities of parliamentary diplomacy between both countries.
