Power lines switch off amid fire at power plant in Russia’s Rostov region
2 power units of Novocherkasskaya State District Power Plant were temporarily taken out of operation, says Rostov governor

ISTANBUL (AA) – Power lines in Russia’s Rostov region switched off after a fire that erupted at a power plant, the region’s governor said early Monday.
Rostov Governor Vasily Golubev said on Telegram that a fire occurred overnight at the transformer substation of the Novocherkasskkaya State District Power Plant.
Expressing that the fire was promptly extinguished by station workers, Golubev said there were no casualties at the facility and that the cause of the fire is being ascertained.
“Due to the fire, the 330 kV high-voltage lines - Tikhoretskaya and Rostovskaya - automatically switched off,” Golubev further said.
He also said that the power supply to consumers was restored, adding that two power units of the plant were temporarily taken out of operation.
Meanwhile, Russia’s Defense Ministry said in a statement that 11 Ukrainian drones were downed over the Rostov region.
Ukrainian authorities have not yet commented on the statement.
