Students call for their school to divest from Israel and end to Israeli attacks in Gaza

WASHINGTON (AA) - A group of pro-Palestinian protestors rallied through the campus of Georgetown University in the US capital of Washington, D.C on Wednesday.

During their demonstration, which began with the new semester, the student protestors chanted "If we don’t get no justice, then they don’t get no peace" and "Free, free Palestine.”

They called for their school's divestment from Israel and an end to the Israeli attacks in Gaza.

The demonstrators blocked a campus intersection and gathered to chant outside of Healy Hall inside the campus.

The protest follows one at Columbia University in New York City on Tuesday.

Pro-Palestine student protests erupted on US campuses on April 17, when police arrested students at Columbia University during demonstrations.

More than 40,800 Palestinians, mostly women and children, have been killed since the start of the Israel-Hamas war on Oct. 7 last year and nearly 94,400 others injured, according to local health authorities.

An ongoing blockade of the enclave has led to severe shortages of food, clean water and medicine, leaving much of the region in ruins.

Israel also faces accusations of genocide for its actions in Gaza at the International Court of Justice.
