Product safety law to cement sense of 'made in Turkey'

ANKARA (AA) - Turkey's new product safety law will provide quality products and strengthen the sense of "made in Turkey" on the international stage, the Turkish trade minister said on Wednesday.

When the product safety and technical regulations bill becomes law, it will usher in a new era for product safety in Turkey, Ruhsar Pekcan told a meeting in the capital Ankara.

Safe production will promote Turkish-origin goods in global competition, and Turkey has taken measures for exportable products, she said.

"Non-hazardous products being manufactured in accordance with standards is highly important," she added.

She called the law an important step to strengthen market surveillance and control for product safety.

Products whose source is unknown will be removed from the market, she added.
