Protesters rally in Sweden, France, Netherlands in support of Palestine

STOCKHOLM / NICE, France / AMSTERDAM (AA) – Protesters in several European cities gathered for rallies on Sunday to express support for Palestine against Israeli attacks.

In Stockholm, the crowd started a rally from the parliament all the way to the Israel Embassy and chanted slogans such as "No to occupation," "Free Palestine," and "Zionist Israel."

The demonstrators called for "ending the genocide in Gaza," and protested against the Swedish and US governments, accusing them of "being complicit of Israel in war crimes."

Demonstrations were also held in France's southeastern city of Nice.

Hundreds of people took to the streets to voice support for Palestine.

Protesters called for "justice in Palestine" and slammed France's position and support for Israel.

They chanted slogans such as "Permanent cease-fire" and "No to occupation" during the rally.

The protest was initially prohibited by the department of Alpes-Maritime prefect, but the administrative court rejected this decision, as has been the case over the past weeks.

Hundreds of people also took to the streets in Amsterdam to call for a permanent cease-fire in Gaza despite heavy rain.

The attendees also criticized the rise of the far-right in the country in the latest elections and Islamophobic Party for Freedom leader Geert Wilders' support for Israel.

"Cease-fire now," "Free Palestine," "From the River to the Sea, Palestine will be free," shouted the protesters.

An anti-Zionist Jew as she calls herself, protester Amanda Gelender told Anadolu that it is important that Jews speak out louder for Palestine's freedom.

"I am a Jew who opposes Israel's apartheid practices and this genocide," she said, adding that the developments in Gaza are unacceptable.

"This is a human rights issue and I am against genocide," she stressed.
