ISTANBUL (AA) - Russian President Vladimir Putin on Wednesday said he expects the “toughest and most prompt” response in the fight against extremism.
Addressing an expanded Interior Ministry board meeting in Moscow, Putin said an important task of internal affairs agencies remains the fight against extremism, listing its manifestations as threats to the “unity and cohesion” of the Russian people.
“National and religious intolerance, aggressive, militant radicalism are a threat to the unity and cohesion of the multinational people of Russia, … our sovereignty, in the end, and even the territorial integrity of the country.
“I expect from you the toughest and most prompt response to such crimes,” Putin said.
In this regard, the Russian president said it is important to use all tools at hand, including preventive work, dialogue with civil society institutions, and religious associations.
