Qatar voices ‘deep regret’ after its embassy building damaged by shelling in Kyiv

ISTANBUL (AA) – Qatar on Friday expressed “deep regret” after its embassy building in Ukraine’s capital Kyiv was damaged by shelling.

A Foreign Ministry statement said the embassy sustained damage, but confirmed that all diplomatic and embassy personnel remained unhurt.

The ministry stressed the need to spare embassies, diplomatic missions, international organizations and civilian facilities from the consequences of crises and to ensure protection for their staff in line with international law.

Qatar also reiterated its longstanding position calling for a peaceful resolution to the Russia-Ukraine war through dialogue and diplomatic means, in line with international law and the UN Charter, and voiced full support for international efforts aimed at de-escalation.

Earlier, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said a massive Russian overnight attack on Ukraine damaged the building of the Qatari embassy and other infrastructure.
