ISTANBUL (AA) – The relationship between China and Brazil is “unbreakable,” Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva said Monday at the China-Brazil Business Forum in Beijing, according to Chinese state media Global Times.

Speaking at the forum, Lula emphasized the vast potential of bilateral ties, saying: “As long as the two countries join hands, the Global South will gain unprecedented respect in the world.”

“China has been portrayed as though it were an enemy of global trade, on the contrary, China has been an example of a country that is willing to do business with countries despised by many other powers for decades,” Lula said.

Lula highlighted growing cooperation in areas such as new energy and infrastructure, announcing significant new investments.

"Today we announced R$27 billion ($4.7 billion) in investments from Chinese companies in Brazil,” Lula said in a post on his X account.

“We’ve taken another step toward strengthening our bilateral exchange and creating opportunities for trade, investment, and development,” he added.

Lula is currently on a four-day state visit to China from May 10 to 14. It is his sixth visit to the country and his second since 2023.

As part of his visit, Lula also took part in the opening ceremony of the fourth ministerial meeting of the China–Community of Latin American and Caribbean States Forum.
