KHARTOUM, Sudan (AA) – The Sudanese authorities reported on Friday that a strike by the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) killed seven civilians and injured 25 others in western Khartoum, the capital of Sudan.
In a statement, the Health Ministry said civilians in Omdurman, a city in western Khartoum, were subjected to heavy artillery shelling by the RSF. The ministry noted that among the victims were three women and a child.
The RSF has not yet commented on the incident.
The war in Sudan began in April 2023, sparked by disagreements between army Gen. Abdel Fattah al-Burhan and Rapid Support Forces (RSF) commander Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo over the integration of the RSF into the army.
The conflict has led to a devastating humanitarian crisis, with nearly 16,000 people killed and millions displaced due to ongoing clashes.
