Russian forces capture village of Rozlyv in Donetsk region, according to Defense Ministry

ISTANBUL (AA) - Russia claimed on Tuesday that it took control of another settlement in eastern Ukraine, where Moscow continues to claim military advances against Kyiv.

According to a Defense Ministry statement, the Russian forces captured the village of Rozlyv, located about 19 kilometers (11.8 miles) northeast of the town of Velyka Novosilka, in the eastern Donetsk region.

Russia claimed to have seized the strategic town on Jan. 27, which lies about 20 kilometers (12.4 miles) from the junction of Ukraine’s Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia, and Dnipropetrovsk regions.

Rozlyv is also about five kilometers (3.1 miles) southwest of the village of Kostiantynopil, which Moscow claimed it captured last month.

Ukraine's General Staff claimed that it repelled 12 attacks by Russian forces near four settlements in the Novopavlivka front, including Rozlyv.

However, Ukrainian authorities have not yet commented on Russia's claim, and independent verification of the claim is difficult due to the ongoing war.
