Russia claims to have taken another settlement in eastern Ukraine

MOSCOW (AA) - Russia claimed on Thursday that its forces have captured another village in eastern Ukraine's Donetsk region.

According to a Defense Ministry statement, Russian forces now control the settlement of Preobrazhenka.

A coordinated strike using high-precision guided weapons and drones targeted Ukrainian military airfield infrastructure, sea and air drone launch command centers, assembly workshops, and storage depots, the statement said.

"The objective of the strike was achieved. All designated targets were hit," it added.

Russia said its air defense systems over the past day also intercepted five JDAM-guided aerial bombs and 204 drones.

Ukraine has not yet commented on these claims. Independent verification remains difficult due to the ongoing conflict, which is now in its fourth year.
