MOSCOW (AA) - The US resumed import of Russian oil after a one-and-a-half-year break, Russian media claimed on Thursday, citing the US Economics and Statistics Administration (ESA).

The Russian state news agency RIA analyzed the data published by the ESA and said Washington imported 36,800 barrels of oil in October for $2.7 million and 9,900 barrels in November for $750,000, which means that a barrel of Russian oil cost the US some $74 in October, and $76 the following month, which is significantly higher than the cap set by the country at $60 per barrel.

According to the research, the oil was purchased for internal consumption.

In March 2022, the US introduced a ban on oil deliveries from Russia over this nation's "special military operation" in Ukraine, which started in February of the same year.
