Russia preparing to respond to Ukraine's last week attack on Kursk region using US-made ATACMS missiles

MOSCOW (AA) – The Russian Defense Ministry announced on Tuesday that it is preparing to respond to Ukraine's attacks on the Kursk region with US-supplied ATACMS missiles.

A statement from the ministry confirmed that investigations at the impacted sites established the use of these American-made tactical missiles.

"The Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation is monitoring the situation and preparing retaliatory actions," it stated.

Last week, US President Joe Biden authorized Kyiv to carry out strikes deep inside Russian territory using ATACMS, which require US military specialists to target.

Ukraine then launched multiple strikes on Russian territory with NATO-supplied weapons.

In retaliation, Russia launched its latest hypersonic missile, the Oreshnik, to heavily target the Yuzhmash military plant in Ukraine’s city of Dnipro.
