MOSCOW (AA) - The Russian Defense Ministry said on Thursday that six Ukrainian drones were shot down in the Kaluga region, located 160 kilometers (99 miles) from Moscow.

"Last night, an attempt by the Kyiv regime to carry out a terrorist attack by unmanned aerial vehicles was stopped over the territory of the Kaluga region. Six UAVs (unmanned aerial vehicles) destroyed by air defense means," the ministry said in a statement.

The ministry added that the attack caused no casualties or damages.

Separately, the Russian media reported citing emergency services that two people were injured in the Russia-controlled part of the Kherson region in Ukraine's artillery strike.

The number of the drone attacks has dramatically increased in recent months. Although Kyiv has not claimed responsibility for them, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on Sunday said attacks on Russian territory are an "inevitable, natural and absolutely fair process."
