Russia sends cargo spacecraft to International Space Station

Progress MS-28 spacecraft carrying 2,621 kg of cargo set to arrive at ISS within two days

MOSCOW (AA) - Russia’s space agency, Roscosmos, announced the successful launch of the Soyuz-2.1a rocket on Thursday, which is transporting the Progress MS-28 cargo spacecraft to the International Space Station (ISS).

The rocket lifted off from the Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan, successfully placing the Progress MS-28 into orbit. The spacecraft is expected to dock with the ISS within two days, according to Roscosmos.

The Progress MS-28 is delivering a total of 2,621 kg (5,779 pounds) of cargo to the ISS. This includes 1,201 kg of tools and equipment for station systems, supplies for scientific experiments, clothing, food, and medical and sanitary products for the crew. Additionally, the spacecraft is transporting 930 kg of fuel for station refueling, 420 kg of drinking water, and 50 kg of nitrogen to replenish the ISS atmosphere.
