Russian drone strike kills 1, injures 14 in Ukraine’s Odessa

ISTANBUL (AA) – One person was killed and 14 others were injured in a Russian drone strike in the southern Ukrainian city of Odessa overnight, according to Ukraine’s Prosecutor General’s Office.

“On the night of June 20, the Russians carried out a massive drone strike on Odessa using at least 10 UAVs,” the office said in a statement on Friday, claiming that a 23-story residential building and other apartment blocks were among the severely damaged structures.

Three rescue workers are among the injured, the statement added.

Fires broke out across multiple sites after the attack, and local authorities are still assessing the full extent of the destruction.

The latest strike follows a series of drone attacks across southern Ukraine, which Kyiv claims are increasingly targeting non-military structures in violation of international humanitarian law.

The Russian side has yet to respond to Ukraine's claims, and independent verification is difficult given the ongoing armed conflict.
