Russian envoy arrives in Davos for reported talks with US officials

ISTANBUL (AA) - Russian presidential envoy Kirill Dmitriev arrived on Tuesday in the Swiss resort of Davos, where he is expected to hold high-level meetings with US representatives aimed at finding a settlement to the Ukraine war.

"Arrived to Davos," Dmitriev wrote on US social media company X, while also posting a graphic alongside the post, featuring the slogan "Davos: Where Globalists Discuss Collapse of Globalism" below a depiction of figures resembling world leaders seated around a burning globe.

Dmitriev's arrival in Davos comes amid reports that he is due to meet US envoy Steve Witkoff and President Donald Trump's son-in-law Jared Kushner.

Citing a source with knowledge, Axios correspondent Barak Ravid wrote on X on Monday that Dmitriev will meet Witkoff and Kushner to discuss the US peace plan for Ukraine.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov did not confirm if Dmitriev will meet Witkoff and Kushner, but acknowledged the Russian envoy will meet "some representatives from the American delegation."

Davos is hosting the annual World Economic Forum, a global gathering where political leaders, heads of global companies, academics, and public figures discuss economic, geopolitical, and social issues. Trump will also attend the event.
