Russian government gives leeway to defense industry for use of reserves

MOSCOW (AA) – Russian Defense Minister Sergey Shoygu said on Tuesday that the Russian government has authorized the use of all capabilities to boost the country's defense industry.

The minister emphasized the importance of increasing artillery and ammunition production during a meeting with military chiefs and defense industry representatives in Moscow, according to a statement issued by the Defense Ministry.

"The Government of the Russian Federation has granted the defense industry the right to use all reserves, including mobilization capacities," he said.

Shoygu added that his ministry has simplified the defense contracting process, lowering the requirements for manufacturers as long as they maintain the quality of their final products.
