Russian, Iranian security officials discuss cooperation

MOSCOW (AA) - Russian Security Council Secretary Sergey Shoygu discussed high-level cooperation on Tuesday with the head of the Iranian Supreme National Security Council (SNSC) Ali Akbar Ahmadian.

"In a telephone conversation with the Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council, Sergey Shoygu emphasized the importance of maintaining high-level cooperation between the two countries across various sectors," Iranian State Television IRIB said on Telegram.

Shoigu expressed condolences for the deaths of Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi, Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian and other high-ranking officials in a helicopter crash on May 19 in the northwest of the country, it said.

Ahmadian thanked Shoygu for the condolences, wished him success in his new position and invited him to visit Tehran, it said.

The Iranian official also expressed his readiness to assist the two national security councils in achieving their strategic goals to further enhance bilateral relations.
