ISTANBUL (AA) - Russian President Vladimir Putin on Tuesday discussed in a phone call cooperation in the energy sector with his Kazakh counterpart Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.
“Issues of practical cooperation in a number of topical areas, including the fuel and energy complex, were discussed,” a statement by the Kremlin read.
The statement said that both the presidents exchanged congratulatory messages for the new year and commended the high level of Russian-Kazakh relations.
Tokayev also thanked Putin for Russia’s hospitality during the informal Commonwealth of Independent States summit held in St. Petersburg last month.
“It was agreed to continue coordination between the governments and relevant structures of the two countries,” the statement concluded.
A separate statement from the Kazakhstan presidency said the conversation took place at the initiative of the Russian side.
