NEW DELHI (AA) – A Russian-origin Indian Air Force jet crashed on Tuesday in India's western state of Maharashtra. The two pilots survived.
Sukhoi Su-30MKI fighter jet crashed in state’s Nashik area, officials said.
The fighter aircraft crashed while on test flight and both the pilots ejected safety, India’s state-run defense firm Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd (HAL) wrote on X.
"A technical snag was reported by the pilots. The exact reason will only be known after detailed investigation,” it said.
Indian Air Force sources told Anadolu that the aircraft belonged to them and it was deployed to the HAL for overhaul and testing purposes.
Su-30MKI fighter jet is developed by Russian aircraft manufacturer Sukhoi and manufactured in India by HAL.
