Russian strategic bomber crashes in Irkutsk region
• Plane crashed in an uninhabited area and there was no damage on ground, says Russian Defense Ministry

ISTANBUL (AA) – A Russian strategic bomber crashed in the country’s Irkutsk region, local media reported on Thursday.
Russian state news agency TASS reported that a statement from the country's Defense Ministry said a bomber crashed during a scheduled flight in the Siberian region, adding that the crew of the aircraft ejected and their lives are not in danger.
The statement further said that the Tu-22M3 model aircraft crashed in an uninhabited area, resulting in no damage on the ground.
“According to preliminary data, the cause of the accident was a technical malfunction,” the statement went on to say.
Irkutsk Governor Igor Kobzev also confirmed the crash in a statement on Telegram, saying that the number of those ejected from the aircraft was four.
Kobzev also told TASS that the fire at the crash site of the incident has been extinguished.
