MOSCOW (AA) - Russia's Baltic Fleet conducted on Thursday military exercises to practice countering drone attacks, the Defense Ministry said.
During the drill, in Russia's westernmost region of Kaliningrad, servicemen used different equipment designed to jam and destroy small air targets, the ministry said in a statement.
"The groups of military personnel engaged in the training included specialists in electronic warfare, air defense and snipers," it added.
A special feature of the exercise was the practical application of new ways to combat drones, the ministry said, adding that attention was paid to training skills of quick detection and neutralization of drones.
"Electronic warfare units were looking for small-sized low-flying air targets, while units of large-caliber machine guns and man-portable anti-aircraft missile systems (MANPADS) Strela-10, and snipers were shooting down the detected UAVs," according to the readout.
