Russia’s foreign minister meets with Red Cross president in Moscow
Two discuss key issues of humanitarian response in countries of Middle East, Horn of Africa and Sahel, Europe and Asia

MOSCOW (AA) - Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov met Tuesday in Moscow with International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) President Mirjana Spoljaric.
The two discussed key issues of the humanitarian response in the countries of the Middle East, the Horn of Africa and the Sahel, Europe and Asia, the ministry said in a statement.
A thorough exchange of views took place on topical aspects of the ICRC's activities in Russia, it said.
"M. Spoljaric's attention was drawn to numerous facts of Ukraine's violation of international humanitarian law, including in the context of the treatment of prisoners of war and civilians," it said.
According to the ministry, "agreements have been reached on further strengthening cooperation."
Spoljaric came to Russia to attend the 4th Eurasian Women’s Forum, which will be held in the city of St. Petersburg on Sept. 18−20.
She also had separate meetings with officials from other government and public agencies as well as the leadership of the Russian Red Cross, including Commissioner for Human Rights Tatyana Moskalkova, Children's Ombudswoman Maria Lvova-Belova and Russian Red Cross Chairman Pavel Savchuk.
