S.Korea’s ex-chief prosecutor wins opposition’s nomination for presidential poll
Yoon Seok-youl gets 47.85% votes of party members, general public to run in elections slated for March next year

ISTANBUL (AA) – South Korea’s former prosecutor general, Yoon Seok-youl, on Friday won the opposition’s nomination for presidential polls next year.
Yoon will lead the campaign of the main opposition People Power Party (PPP) in the elections.
He won 47.85% of votes cast in a four-day poll by party members and the general public this week, Seoul-based Yonhap news reported.
His nearest party rival Hong Joon-pyo came close with 41.50% of total votes.
The PPP announced results during a national convention at the Kim Koo Museum and Library in Seoul.
Presidential elections are slated for March next year.
Under the South Korean constitution, a president can only serve for one five-year term.
