Saudi Arabia says 5 ‘hostile’ drones intercepted near Prince Sultan Air Base

No information given about injuries or damage

ISTANBUL (AA) - Saudi Arabia said Monday that five “hostile” drones were intercepted and destroyed near Prince Sultan Air Base.

No information was given about injuries or damage by Defense Ministry spokesman Turki Al-Maliki.

The Saudi Energy Ministry earlier said that debris from the interception of two drones caused limited damage at the Ras Tanura oil refinery on the country’s eastern coast.

It came as the US and Israel launched a large-scale attack on Iran on Saturday, killing several top Iranian leaders, including Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

In response, Tehran has retaliated with drone and missile strikes targeting Israel as well as regional countries which are home to US assets.
