Saudi king meets with Eritrean president in Jeddah

JEDDAH, Saudi Arabia (AA) - Saudi King Salman bin Abdulaziz on Monday met with Eritrean President Isaias Afwerki in the Saudi city of Jeddah.

According to the official Saudi Press Agency, discussions tackled regional developments and means of strengthening bilateral relations.

The talks were also attended by officials of both countries, including Saudi Foreign Minister Adel al-Jubeir and his Eritrean counterpart, Osman Saleh.

Afwerki arrived in Jeddah earlier Monday for an official visit the duration of which has not been made public.

Last Monday, Afwerki paid a historic visit to Ethiopia, where he presided over the reopening of Eritrea’s embassy in Addis Ababa following nearly two decades of strained relations.
