Serbs in capital protest Israel's aggression against Gaza

People write messages condemning Israel's brutal attacks on Palestinian people on walls of Israeli companies

BELGRADE, Serbia (AA) - Serbs living in the capital Belgrade woke up Sunday morning to messages condemning Israel's brutal attacks against the Palestinian people​​​​​​​ on buildings financed or built by Israeli companies throughout the city.

The US coffee chain Starbucks, a building hosting a book fair sponsored by Israeli companies and business centers as well as shopping malls built with Israeli investments were targeted with messages on their walls.

They said "Belgrade and Serbia will never be a safe home for mass murderers coming from Israel,” ''Death to Zionist imperialism!,” “Long live free Palestine!,'' and ''Long live the friendship of the peoples of Serbia and Palestine!”

A huge mural in support of the uprising of the people of Palestine against the Israeli occupier also appeared in the center of Belgrade.

It was painted in one of the tunnels in the city center.

It contained the messages ''Down with Zionism!'' and ''Down with Euro-Atlantic imperialism!.”

In the neighboring country of Bosnia and Herzegovina, citizens hung posters around the capital Sarajevo.

Israel has heavily bombarded Gaza since Oct. 7, when the Palestinian group Hamas carried out a cross-border attack.

The number of Palestinians killed in Israeli attacks on Gaza has risen to 8,005, including 3,342 children, 2,062 women, and 460 elderly people, according to the Health Ministry.

More than 1,400 Israelis have been killed in the conflict.

Israeli army spokesperson Daniel Hagari on announced Saturday that Israeli forces were expanding their operations and moving to the "next phase of our war against Hamas," which includes ground operations.

Gaza's 2.3 million residents are meanwhile grappling with shortages of food, water, fuel and medicine due to Israel’s blockade of the enclave.
