MOSCOW (AA) - One civilian was killed and two others were injured in Ukraine's shelling of the city of Belgorod, Governor Vyacheslav Gladkov said on Friday.
A woman was walking with her dogs when a shell landed, killing her and one of the dogs, Gladkov said in a statement on Telegram.
"I express my sincere condolences to the family and friends of the deceased woman. Although I understand that no words can ease the pain of loss," he said.
Two people were hospitalized with injuries of different severity, Gladkov said, noting that the data was preliminary and not all city hospitals provided the data on the number of patients that were admitted to medical treatment following the shelling.
The governor said four hospitals were damaged, along with 31 apartments in five residential houses and 14 cars in Friday morning's shelling.
The shelling caused the necessity to evacuate a maternity hospital, Gladkov added.
In Belgorod's suburbs, six private houses and two cars were also destroyed, he said.
Russia and Ukraine have been at war for more than two years.
