Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force, Japan Coast Guard working to put out fire, says local media

ANKARA (AA) - At least one crew member was hospitalized after a fire broke out on a Japanese Self-Defence Forces ship, according to local media on Sunday.

One crew member was hospitalized due to smoke inhalation, state broadcaster NHK reported.

According to the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force, the fire broke out on a minesweeper “Ukushima,” a small warship having 40 crew members onboard, sailing off the coast of Fukuoka Prefecture on Sunday morning.

Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force and the Japan Coast Guard are working to put out the fire.
