MOSCOW (AA) - One civilian was killed and nine others injured in Ukraine's attack on Russia's Belgorod region over the past day, Governor Vyacheslav Gladkov reported on Tuesday.
"Nine civilians were injured yesterday. Seven received medical assistance and were released for outpatient treatment. Two are in serious condition under medical supervision. I hope that help will be provided and they will return to their families as soon as possible. To our great sorrow, one resident from Novaya Tavolzhanka died," Gladkov wrote on Telegram.
According to the official, 39 private houses, an outbuilding, and 19 cars were damaged in the shelling of the city of Belgorod. Over a dozen other settlements also suffered damage from the shelling, he said.
Gladkov claimed that Ukrainian troops fired dozens of shells and drones. Some were either jammed or shot down by Russian air defense systems, while others reached their targets.
Separately, the Russian Defense Ministry published a video reportedly showing a strike on Ukraine's military airfield near the city of Mirgorod in the Poltava region.
"As a result of the Russian army's strike, five active Su-27 multirole fighter jets were destroyed and two under repair were damaged," the ministry said.
Ukraine has yet to comment on Russia's claims.
