ISTANBUL (AA) - At least one passenger was killed and many others were injured after a Singapore Airlines flight from London to Singapore encountered “severe turbulence,” the company said Tuesday.
It said flight number SQ321, operating from Heathrow Airport in the British capital to Singapore on Monday and carrying 211 passengers and 18 crew members, “encountered severe turbulence en-route.”
“The aircraft diverted to Bangkok (in Thailand) and landed” at 3.45 p.m. local time (0845GMT) on Tuesday, it said.
“We can confirm that there are injuries and one fatality on board the Boeing 777-300ER,” said the company.
While the company did not specify the number of the injured passengers, reports claim that more than 30 of them were wounded and are under treatment in Bangkok.
