BEIRUT (AA) – One person was killed and another injured in an Israeli airstrike in southern Lebanon on Wednesday, the Health Ministry said.
The casualties were reported in the strike that targeted the border town of Mays al-Jabal, the ministry added in a statement.
The state-run National News Agency said a motorcycle was the target of the Israeli strike.
Lebanese media reported two Israeli drone strikes on a park in Maroun al-Ras amid reports of damage.
According to witnesses, Israeli warplanes carried out 17 airstrikes in several Lebanese border towns, including Zibqine, Chaaitiyeh, and Qlaileh.
Lebanese group Hezbollah, for its part, claimed rocket attacks against the military sites of Metula and Ruwaisat Al-Qarn in northern Israel and a deployment of Israeli soldiers in the vicinity of the Raheb military post and Zibdin barracks in southern Lebanon.
Tensions have spiked along Lebanon's border with Israel amid cross-border attacks between Hezbollah and Israeli forces as Tel Aviv pressed ahead with a brutal onslaught on the Gaza Strip, which has killed over 41,000 people since Oct. 7 following an attack by the Palestinian resistance group, Hamas.
