BEIRUT (AA) – At least one person was killed in an Israeli airstrike in southern Lebanon Monday evening, the Health Ministry said.
A ministry statement said the strike targeted a car in the town of Deir Qanoun El Ain in the Tyre district.
Several people were also injured in the attack, according to the state-run National News Agency.
No details are yet available about the identity of the victim.
The attack followed a Hezbollah drone attack, which killed one Israeli soldier and injured another in Western Galilee in northern Israel on Monday.
At least two civilians were killed early Monday in an Israeli drone strike in the town of Houla in southern Lebanon.
Fears of a full-fledged war between Israel and Hezbollah have grown amid an exchange of cross-border attacks, especially after the July 30 assassination of senior Hezbollah commander Fouad Shukr in Beirut.
The escalation comes against the backdrop of a deadly Israeli onslaught on Gaza, which has killed over 40,100 people since last October following an attack by the Palestinian resistance group Hamas.
