BERLIN (AA) – One person was killed and 11 injured in a bomb explosion in southern Germany, officials said Monday.
Police in Ansbach said the explosion occurred in front of a restaurant that was closed due to a music festival in the area that was attended by as many as 2,500 patrons.
The festival was canceled and the area evacuated.
Mayor Carda Seidel told reporters that an explosive had caused a blast, according to local media.
Seidel said it was unclear how many explosions occurred and who was responsible.
The attack is the third deadly incident in Germany in as many days.
Earlier Sunday, a pregnant woman was killed in a machete attack in Reutlingen near Stuttgart while at least 10 victims were killed in a gun attack Friday at a mall in Munich.
Last week, several victims were injured in an axe attack on a train in Wuerzburg.
