BEIRUT (AA) - One person was killed Thursday in an Israeli drone strike in eastern Lebanon.

The Lebanese Civil Defense said the attack targeted a motorcycle in Sohmor in the western Bekaa Valley in eastern Lebanon, where the deceased was transported to a hospital.

Israeli warplanes also conducted a fierce airstrike that destroyed a house in Aitaroun and another strike targeted a house in Houla, according to Lebanon’s National News Agency.

“Israeli warplanes broke the sound barrier twice in the skies over the Nabatiyeh region and the Iqlim al-Tuffah area, above the Sidon region and its outskirts, the Jezzine district, flying at low altitude and causing a powerful sonic boom,” it said.

The Lebanese resistance group, Hezbollah, meanwhile announced it “launched attacks with drones on the maritime Naqoura site, targeting locations where enemy officers and soldiers were stationed and causing direct casualties.”

“The targeting led to fires at the site and resulted in casualties, including both fatalities and injuries,” it added.

Tensions have risen along Lebanon's border with Israel amid cross-border attacks between Hezbollah and Israeli forces as Tel Aviv presses ahead with a deadly offensive against the Gaza Strip, which has killed more than 37,700 victims since October following an attack by the Palestinian resistance group, Hamas.
