ISTANBUL (AA) – One soldier of the Syrian regime army was killed and seven others were injured early Thursday in an "Israeli aerial aggression" on the capital Damascus and the Homs rural area in central Syria.
The Israeli army carried out the "aerial aggression" on Syria from the direction of the occupied Syrian Golan Heights and northern Lebanon, the state-run Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA) reported, citing a military source.
The news agency added that Israel targeted two military posts in Kafar Souseh neighborhood in Damascus and another in Homs rural area, killing one soldier, injuring seven others, and causing material losses.
In recent months, the Israeli army has conducted frequent airstrikes across Syria amid ongoing tensions in the Middle East. It, however, does not comment on these attacks.
Israel has been intermittently carrying out attacks on Iranian-backed groups and military positions affiliated with the Syrian regime's army since the start of the country’s civil war in 2011.
